Want to develop your own patterns, for your body? Virtually all designs are derived from a fundamental pattern called a “block” (or “sloper,” in home sewing). In this six-part series, you will learn the basics of flat pattern drafting to create the extended bodice block/sloper and sleeve. The class will begin by taking your measurements and learning about the techniques, lingo, and materials used to draft a pattern, using flat pattern method techniques. Through the subsequent classes, you will draft and then test an extended bodice block that fits your body, and then learn how to make modification to that block for other styles. This class is a great way to start building a foundation in home patternmaking, which can not only expand your design potential but also enable you to better understand how to modify commercial home sewing patterns as well.
