Whether you’ve never touched a machine before, haven’t sewed in years, or just want to review the fundamentals, this sewing machine “driver’s ed” class is a great way to get yourself going. In a single, 2-hour session, you will learn how to thread and steer a sewing machine, sew a variety of curved and straight seams, understand different types of stitches and their functions, and try your first project, a lined drawstring bag/pouch. We will also discuss some of the most common challenges you encounter when learning to sew, and learn key troubleshooting strategies so that frustration doesn’t get in the way of your new hobby. If you are interested in continuing on with additional classes, we’ll also go over what you need to know to pick out a pattern and buy fabric for your next project.
