One Strap Wonder Bag Wallet Standard Pillowcases
Beach Book Cover Throw pillow cover Gift Bag

Want a little more experience after your first intro class before diving into bigger projects? In this 2-hour “Beginner’s Step Two” class, you can choose one of several beginner-friendly projects (pictured above). Learn the basics of how to understand and cut out a simple pattern to complete a fun and easy project. Class can be retaken as many times as you like to try more than one project. Patterns and instructions are provided for each item, just bring the fabric, thread, and notions according to the supply list for your chosen item (below).

Instructor: Valerie Williams

Class time: 1 session, 2 hours

Maximum class size: 6 people

Supplies required

Password Protected Patterns page (can be accessed after taking the class)

One Strap Wonder Bag

  • 3/4 yard medium to heavy weight fabric for outside
  • 3/4 yard light-medium weight fabric (such as cotton) for lining
  • 1 spool of matching thread
Wallet

  • Small scrap (at least 8″ x 10″) of medium weight fabric for outside
  • 1/4 yard regular weight cotton for lining
  • One button (optional)
  • 1 spool of matching thread
Standard Pillowcase

  • 3/4 yard main fabric (cotton)
  • 1/3 yard cuff fabric
  • 1.5 yards of ribbon (at least 3/4″ wide) or piping for trim (OPTIONAL)
  • 1 spool of matching thread
Beach Book Cover(Finished dimensions are (closed) 8.5″ tall by 5.25″ wide. See this pagefor more info)

  • Quilting cotton can be used for all parts but something heavyweight like denim, corduroy or upholstery fabric would be great for the outside. You can use fat quarters or scraps – you just need enough to cut two rectangles 11.5″ x 9.5” and two that are 7″ by 9.5.” If using the same fabric for the inside and outside, ½ yard should be sufficient.
  • 1 yard lightweight woven, fusible interfacing to stabilize the cotton and give it a nice body without making it too thick.
  • Felt, batting, fleece, or fusible fleece for padding. If you are using fusible fleece, you won’t need the lightweight interfacing mentioned above.
  • 1.5 yards of 1” wide grosgrain ribbon for the bookmark/tie closure.
  • 1 spool of matching thread
Throw Pillow Cover(Fabric listed is for pillows up to 18″ x 18″. Can be made to fit any dimensions)

  • 1 yard of medium to heavy weight cotton
  • 1 button (optional)
  • 2.5 yards of piping (optional)
  • 1 spool of matching thread
Keepsake Drawstring Gift Bag(Materials listed can make a bag (or bags) of many different dimensions. See this page for more details)

  • One yard of lightweight cotton or other fabric that you like.
  • 1 yard of 1.5 inch ribbon
  • 1 spool if matching thread
